Economic Strategy

The recession, the change of Government and the national focus on localism and re-balancing local economies has made it necessary to review the Bradford District Economic Strategy, origninally produced in 2007.

An Economic Assessment was carried out in 2010, and this provided the evidence base for the economic strategy. From the key messages which emerged from this analysis, we consulted with partners to develop the priorities.

The strategy focuses on two specific priorities: building entrepreneurship and innovation, and working from the centre outwards. It aims to support the transition of the district economy from recession to recovery and act as a tool to focus, mobilise and secure resources.

The Economic Strategy was considered at Regeneration and Economy Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 27 January, and was approved by Bradford Council’s Executive Committee on 11 February in a report that brought together the Economic Assessment and Strategy alongside the Employment and Skills Strategy and Housing Delivery Report.

The strategy can be found below, as well as parter briefing notes which formed part of the consultation process.
