The Bradford District Safer Communities Partnership is a multi agency partnership working to make Bradford district safer.
The Partnership brings together many different organisations from across the district. We base our work on an audit of crime and substance misuse across the district. As part of the audit we consult local people about their concerns and priorities.
Bradford District Safer Communities Partnership use the findings of the audit to develop strategies. We also have strategies on drug misuse, alcohol, domestic violence and other key issues.
The Partnership is chaired by West Yorkshire Police and Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
The Partnership has worked together to reduce crime and disorder since 2003. Crime in the district has fallen by over 28% over this period; evidence that joined up solutions are effective in tackling the complex causes of crime. Key areas of success include:
- Car crime down by 43%
- Graffiti and vandalism down by 32%
- Wounding has fallen by more than 33%
- Burglary has reduced by 24%
In 2007/8 there were 13,020 fewer victims of crime in the Bradford district compared with 2003/4.
