Centenary Square in Bradford
AROUND 25 jobs are set to be created in Bradford when a restaurant opens within a property scheme.
Portuguese flame-grilled, peri-peri chicken specialists Nando’s is fitting out a 4,200 sq ft ground-floor unit with a 20-year lease at Centenary Square, Bradford.
Chino Thai, an existing tenant in the two-storey, 56,000 sq ft Centenary Square, acquired by Leeds-based property investment and development company Rushbond in 2009, has relocated to a 6,000 sq ft, first-floor restaurant but retained a ground-floor entrance.
Other leisure tenants at Centenary Square, which overlooks Bradford Council’s £24m Mirror Pool, the UK’s largest city centre water feature and events space with 100 fountains, include Starbucks, Weatherspoons and the Bradford 1 and Impressions art galleries.
Jonathan Maud, Rushbond's managing director, said: “Nando’s is an expanding restaurant group with the right family appeal for Bradford and we are pleased that they are coming to the city centre.
“We believe that the new restaurant will be a catalyst for more occupiers at Centenary Square which has the benefit of external trading areas, possibly for al fresco dining the summer, and which occupies a prime location in Bradford city centre with the forthcoming launch of the Mirror Pool which is designed to bring more investment and tourism to the city.”
The Leeds office of property consultants, Pudney Shuttleworth acted for Rushbond in brokering the Nando’s restaurant letting deal.
