Six staff at a Bingley-based educational publishing group have proved they are a match for the current contestants in The Apprentice, after turning £50 into £1,600 for charity.
The group at Emerald Publishing spent a month competing with another team at the company’s head office.
The teams were handed £50 and given free rein to make as much money as possible for Barnardo’s, the company’s adopted charity for 2010.
Emerald chairman Martin Fojt said: “This competition was inspired by the current series of The Apprentice but as well as raising money for charity it put the teams’ entrepreneurial spirit to the test.”
Winners Emma Stevenson, Emma Hollindrake, Anna Drabble, Victoria Sheard, Giles Metcalfe and Cristina Irving, hosted a range of events from cake sales to auctions.
In total the competition raised more than £3,000.
