A £750,000 used car dealership is set to open this weekend – paving the way for a new concept for an expanding Bradford-based motors group.
The first PriceRight dealership has been developed by the family-run JCT 600 group at its landmark site next to the ‘JCT roundabout’ in Rawdon.
It will specialise in selling used cars priced from £3,000 to around £15,000 in an ‘outlet’ format similar to those operated by high-street retailers.
JCT600, one of the UK’s largest independently-owned motor groups, believes the new site, which is passed by 40,000 vehicles a day, opens up new sales opportunities as demand for quality used cars continues to grow.
It is the first in what is intended to be a string of PriceRight outlets across the North of England at JCT 600, which has 48 dealerships throughout Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and the North East.
The new outlet will stock around 180 used cars at the base which was previously the JCT600 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep showroom.
Andy Coulthurst, JCT 600 sales director, said: “With up to 180 vehicles on site, our team has access to a database of available used cars from across the JCT600 network of dealerships, and this puts us in a strong position to source the right vehicle, whatever the requirement. Offering a broad choice of family, sports, 4x4, convertible and prestige cars, most of the vehicles will be between one and five years old and will range in price between around £3,000 and £15,000.”
Mr Coulthurst said recently that car buyers were prepared to travel hundreds of miles to bag a bargain. Motorists searched online in order to find the best bargains and then travelled to buy at the best price.
One customer travelled 282 miles from Canterbury to buy a car from one of JCT 600’s West Yorkshire dealerships, and another came 337 miles from Aberdeen to Bradford to secure a good deal.
The PriceRight outlet includes a new building for the sales and customer services operations. JCT 600 plans to introduce the PriceRight brand to additional sites across the North.
The former Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep showroom has been relocated to the former SEAT showroom across the road, while after-sales has been relocated to JCT600’s new business at Menston.
Mark Taylor, group property director, said: “JCT600 is constantly looking for ways to develop in line with customer demand.”
