Bradford auditor steals a march on rivals

October 07th, 2010

Chartered accountants at a Bradford firm have stolen a march on national rivals after clinching a contract to work for a City of London-based global insurance company.

Watson Buckle won the work after impressing with its audits for a subsidiary company and will save their new client £10,000 in fees.

The firm has now been appointed to provide audit services to Osprey Underwriting Agency Ltd, a global insurance holding company after carrying out audits for the group’s global marine insurance arm, Osprey Special Risks Ltd, for several years.

Watson Buckle partner Chris Padgett said: “The holding company and Osprey Underwriting Agency Ltd were previously audited by one of the top ten firms. It turned out they were not very happy with the service they were being provided with and so they said they would be delighted to talk to us.

“Our charges for the same audit and corporation tax work gave them a saving of over £10,000. They are very happy with the work we’ve done and believe we have given them a more thorough audit at a much better rate.

“With today’s technology, it is far easier to keep in touch. We need to visit in person for the audit itself, but even with travel and accommodation costs included, we were still able to offer a significant saving.”

Lev Osman, chief executive of Osprey Underwriting, said: “We were pleasantly surprised by the manner and professionalism Watson Buckle exhibited during their inaugural accounting audit of the agency. “
